SAP prepares to launch its new Advanced Track & Trace for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP)

SAP plans the launch of its new Advanced Track & Trace  for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP) on September 15, 2015. The new SAP ATTP serialization and traceability offering is specifically designed for the next generation of global serialization requirements for life sciences.

My understanding from a source at SAP, the new solution replaces SAP Auto-identification infrastructure (Aii) and Object Event Repository (OER) and adds regulatory reporting to support compliance with traceability in various countries with traceability regulations, including the United States of America (DQSA/DSCSA as of November 27, 2017), China, India (exports), Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and EU (once the delegated acts are finalized). br>
TThe SAP ATTP traceability and serialization solution is a completely new system and leverages advances in SAP and related technology, including SAP HANA cloud computing ecosystem.

To support legacy implementations of Aii or OER the new solution supports interoperability with legacy occurrences of SAP Aii and SAP OER and allows them to be phased out while allowing an organization to benefit from the new SAP ATTP solution.

The ATTP solution is licensed based on the number of serial numbers produced by and organization and the various country compliance modules are sold separately based on a company’s specific needs (countries where they sale products). br>
The solution may be deployed at sites (ISA-95 level 3) and an enterprise wide occurrence (ISA-95 level 4).

ATTP fully supports Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS). EPCIS version 1.1 and Core Business Vocabulary (CBV) version 1.1 will soon be published as ISO/IEC standards. The new ISO standards will be named “ISO/IEC 19987 Information technology, EPC Information services, Specification” and “ISO/IEC 19988 Information technology -- GS1 Core business vocabulary (CBV).”

The use of an internationally accepted standard such as EPCIS and SAP HANA may allow supply chain participants to maintain control over their ATTP system while easily exchanging serialization and traceability information without the complexity and expense of using 3rd party cloud solutions.

Having assisted over 27 manufacturers in life sciences, and several contract packagers and Third Party Logistics (3PL), and having been trained on SAP Aii 7.1 and experienced deploying serialization in an SAP environment, feel free to contact me if you are interested in discussing how ATTP can be integrated into your serialization and traceability roadmap.
